We traveled to Spruce Pine with an incredible team from Grace Church in Wooster expecting to help rebuild homes. What we didn't expect was how God would also be rebuilding and strengthening us. As we served side by side, we shared stories, prayed together, encouraged one another, and watched Him work in ways none of us could have planned.
The work in western North Carolina is far from over. If God places it on your heart to serve, Baptist on Mission continues to welcome volunteers. There is still a tremendous need, and every willing pair of hands can make a lasting difference in the lives of these families. Baptist on Mission is leading a focused restoration effort in Spruce Pine, NC, bringing coordinated relief and long-term recovery to homes and community spaces affected by Hurricane Helene nearly two years ago.
Baptist on Mission combines immediate repair teams with case management for longer-term recovery, connecting homeowners to financial assistance, reconstruction resources, and follow-up inspections. Volunteers receive training in best practices and safety protocols, and the organization seeks donations of building materials, monetary gifts, and volunteer time to sustain the effort. The goal is resilient, durable restoration that helps Spruce Pine families rebuild their lives and strengthens community bonds for the future.
